Amazonitt er en grønn til blågrønn fargevariant av mineralet mikroklin, som tilhører feltspatgruppen.
Den kjemiske sammensetningen er kaliumaluminiumsilikat (KAlSi₃O₈), og mineralet har triklin krystallstruktur.
Fargen skyldes komplekse strukturelle og kjemiske forhold i krystallgitteret som oppstår under dannelsen.
Amazonitt er vanligvis ugjennomsiktig til svakt gjennomskinnelig og kan vise naturlige
fargevariasjoner og lyse striper eller sjatteringer.
Mineralet har en hardhet på ca. 6–6,5 på Mohs skala og brukes hovedsakelig i slipte dekorobjekter og
smykker. Naturlige sprekker, kløvflater og variasjoner i farge og overflate er normalt for dette materialet.

Amazonite is a green to blue-green color variant of the mineral microcline, which belongs to the feldspar group.
The chemical composition is potassium aluminum silicate (KAlSi₃O₈), and the mineral has a triclinic crystal structure.
The color is due to complex structural and chemical conditions in the crystal lattice that occur during formation.
Amazonite is usually opaque to slightly translucent and may show natural
color variations and light streaks or shading.
The mineral has a hardness of approx. 6–6.5 on the Mohs scale and is mainly used in polished decorative objects and
jewelry. Natural cracks, cleavage surfaces and variations in color and surface are normal for this material.
