Angelitt er handelsnavnet på mineralet anhydritt, som består
av kalsiumsulfat (CaSO₄). Navnet “englestein” brukes
kommersielt, men refererer ikke til en egen mineraltype.
Mineralet har en hardhet på ca. 3–3,5 på Mohs skala og en
ortorombisk krystallstruktur. Angelitt forekommer vanligvis i
lyseblå til blågrå nyanser og har ofte en matt eller svakt
silkeaktig overflate, spesielt i polerte former.
Anhydritt dannes i evaporittmiljøer og forekommer ofte
sammen med andre sulfater. Materialet er følsomt for
fuktighet og bør ikke utsettes for vann over lengre tid.
Naturlige variasjoner i farge, struktur og overflate er normalt.

Angelite is the trade name for the mineral anhydrite, which consists of
calcium sulfate (CaSO₄). The name “angelite” is used
commercially, but does not refer to a specific mineral type.
The mineral has a hardness of approximately 3–3.5 on the Mohs scale and an
orthorhombic crystal structure. Angelite usually occurs in
light blue to blue-gray shades and often has a matte or slightly
silky surface, especially in polished forms.
Anhydrite forms in evaporite environments and often occurs
together with other sulfates. The material is sensitive to
moisture and should not be exposed to water for long periods of time.
Natural variations in color, structure and surface are normal.
