hardhet på ca. 5 på Mohs skala. Materialet
kan variere fra transparent til mer ugjennomsiktig,

Fargeintensitet, klarhet og struktur varierer naturlig
mellom ulike steiner. På grunn av den relativt
moderate hardheten bør apatitt behandles med
forsiktighet for å redusere risiko for riper og slitasje.
