Multifarget turmalin er en samlebetegnelse
for turmalin som viser flere farger i samme
produkt, enten gjennom en kombinasjon
av ulike steiner eller naturlige fargesoner
i én og samme krystall.
Turmalin tilhører en gruppe
borosilikatmineraler med trigonal
krystallstruktur. Fargene varierer
som følge av sporstoffer og naturlige
variasjoner under dannelsen, og kan
omfatte nyanser av rosa, grønt, gult,
brunt og svart.
Mineralet har en hardhet på ca.
7–7,5 på Mohs skala. Fordeling
av farger, intensitet og mønster
varierer betydelig, og hvert
eksemplar har sitt eget uttrykk.

Multi-colored tourmaline is a collective term
for tourmaline that displays multiple colors in the same
product, either through a combination
of different stones or natural color zones
in one and the same crystal.
Tourmaline belongs to a group
of borosilicate minerals with a trigonal
crystal structure. The colors vary
as a result of trace elements and natural
variations during formation, and can
include shades of pink, green, yellow,
brown and black.
The mineral has a hardness of approximately
7–7.5 on the Mohs scale. The distribution
of colors, intensity and patterns
varies considerably, and each
specimen has its own expression.
