Ametyst er en fiolett fargevariant av mineralet kvarts (silisiumdioksid, SiO₂). Fargen skyldes sporstoffer av j
ern og naturlig stråling som påvirker krystallgitteret under dannelsen. Mineralet har trigonal
krystallstruktur og en hardhet på ca. 7 på Mohs skala.
Denne råstein gruppen består av flere sammenvokste ametystkrystaller som har dannet seg naturlig i
samme hulrom. Krystallene er uslipte og upolerte, med naturlige krystallflater og ujevn overflate.
Formen og strukturen er et resultat av fri krystallvekst og naturlig brudd.
Fargeintensitet, krystallstørrelse og form varierer naturlig innen hver gruppe. Små ujevnheter, sprekker
og variasjoner i struktur er normalt for naturlig ametyst i rå tilstand.

Amethyst is a violet color variant of the mineral quartz (silicon dioxide, SiO₂). The color is due to trace amounts of iron and natural radiation that affect the crystal lattice during formation. The mineral has a trigonal
crystal structure and a hardness of approximately 7 on the Mohs scale.
This raw stone group consists of several amethyst crystals that have grown together naturally in the same cavity. The crystals are uncut and unpolished, with natural crystal faces and an uneven surface.
The shape and structure are a result of free crystal growth and natural fracture.
Color intensity, crystal size and shape vary naturally within each group. Small irregularities, cracks
and variations in structure are normal for natural amethyst in its raw state.
